CHIEF ACCOUNTANT

ABOUT THE ROLE
We’re looking for a Chief Accountant who oversees the company’s accounting operations, ensures compliance with financial regulations, prepares financial statements, and supports management with accurate financial insights for strategic planning.
You’ll be responsible for:
1. Accounting Operations Management
- Manage, control, and oversee the daily operations of the Accounting Department.
- Perform and supervise accounting transactions, including revenue, expenses, cash receipts and payments, bookkeeping, and maintain accounting records in compliance with applicable regulations.
- Control and monitor accounts receivable and accounts payable, ensuring timely collections from customers and proper settlement of payments to suppliers.
- Review and manage company bank accounts and oversee the company’s financial transactions and payment processes.
- Oversee payroll, PIT, and SHUI administration, manage expat compensation and tax matters, and ensure strict compliance with labor regulations and internal HR policies.
- Ensure all accounting documents, invoices, and payment requests are properly prepared, verified, and compliant with accounting and tax regulations.
- Establish and maintain internal control procedures to safeguard company assets and ensure financial accuracy.
2. Financial Reporting and Financial Planning
- Prepare and manage tax declarations and reports, including VAT, Corporate Income Tax (CIT), Personal Income Tax (PIT), Foreign Contractor Tax (FCT), and other statutory reports in compliance with regulations.
- Manage VAT refund procedures and ensure full compliance with Transfer Pricing regulations (including required documentation and disclosures).
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and submit reports to government authorities and relevant stakeholders.
- Prepare and submit accurate statistical reports as required by government authorities.
- Compile and consolidate periodic internal financial reports for management review and decision-making.
- Monitor and manage the company’s cash flow, including planning and controlling cash inflow and outflow to ensure financial stability.
- Support the preparation and monitoring of the annual company budget, and analyze variances between actual results and planned financial performance.
- Analyze financial data and provide insights to support long-term financial planning and business strategy.
3. Compliance, Audit, and External Coordination
- Work with and provide explanations to tax authorities and government agencies when required.
- Ensure full compliance with Vietnamese Accounting Standards (VAS) and relevant financial regulations.
- Coordinate with external auditors and internal auditors during financial audits and ensure the timely completion of audit requirements.
- Maintain proper documentation and accounting records to support audits and regulatory reviews.
4. Advisory Role to the Board of Directors
- Provide recommendations to the Board of Directors on effective financial management, cost control, and optimal utilization of company funds.
- Advise management on financial strategy, budgeting, and cash flow optimization to support business growth.
- Coordinate in drafting, issuing, and implementing financial management regulations, cost control policies, and accounting procedures within the company.
- Develop, review, and improve accounting and financial processes to enhance operational efficiency and internal controls.
5. Contract Review and Legal–Tax Risk Management
- Review contracts with vendors and external parties to assess financial, accounting, and tax implications.
- Identify and mitigate tax and legal risks (VAT, withholding tax, expense deductibility, payment terms).
- Ensure contract terms comply with accounting standards, tax regulations, and company policies.
- Coordinate with relevant departments to safeguard the company’s financial and compliance interests before contract execution.
6. Team Management and Development
- Manage and lead the Accounting team (4 members), ensuring effective delegation and supervision of accounting tasks.
- Provide training, professional guidance, and mentorship for accounting staff.
- Monitor work progress and evaluate the performance of accounting team members.
- Propose decisions related to personnel management, recruitment, training, and development of the accounting team.
7. Other Responsibilities
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Management or Board of Directors.
- Support special projects related to finance, accounting, and corporate governance when required.
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

You must have:
- Must have a degree in Accounting or Finance, CPA is a plus.
- At least 5 years of relevant working experience
- At least 3 years of working experience in a Chief Accountant position
- Solid knowledge of HR tasks, labour code, SHUI, and PIT regulations
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, and especially Excel)
- Familiar with accounting software (MISA)
- Excellent analytical, detail-oriented, consolidated, and problem-solving skills
- Team player and can collaborate with other teams in the organization.
- Good writing and reading English skills.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize workload in order to meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment
- Deep understanding of accounting laws, regulations, and generally accepted accounting principles within the country.
- Experience working in the Japanese software development industry or for Japanese-invested companies.
